Robert C. Sutter, Jr., M.D.


Robert C. Sutter, Jr., M.D. was born and raised in Ohio. He is a graduate of Case Western Reserve University, his M.D. was obtained from the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Sutter returned to Ohio and completed his post-graduate neurology training at Ohio State University. He served in the Air Force from 1972-74 at Scott Air Force base near St. Louis, Missouri.

Dr. Sutter is a Diplomate of the American Board of Neurology and Psychiatry, American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine, and a Diplomate of National Board of Medical Examiners. Dr. Sutter is also a member of the American Academy of Neurology. He has a special interest in EMG and has passed the qualifying testing of the Association of Electromyography & Electrodiagnosis. He has been certified in both CT and MRI by the American Society of Neuroimaging. He is a member of the American Medical Association, California Medical Association, the Orange County Medical Association, and the American Society of Neuroimaging.

Dr. Sutter has been in practice in Orange County since 1974. He is a past Chief of Staff at Saddleback Memorial Medical Center, past President of the Orange County Neurological Society, and has been Chairman for the Department of Neurology at Hoag Hospital. Dr. Sutter enjoys practicing general adult neurology. Parkinson's Disease and Dementia are areas of special interest.

Dr. Sutter is an avid sports fan (he especially enjoys golf and Ohio State football) and he and his wife reside in Orange County. They have two grown children.




William G. Preston, M.D.


William G. Preston, M.D. is a native of California, receiving his B.A. cum laude from Stanford University. He graduated from the University of Southern California School of Medicine and completed his post-graduate training at the LAC/USC Medical Center in Neurology.

Dr. Preston is Board Certified by the American Board of Neurology and Psychiatry, and has been elected Fellow by the American Academy of Neurology. He is an active member of the American Society of Neuroimaging and is certified in MRI Interpretation by that Society. Dr. Preston also holds current membership in the Orange County Medical Association, California Medical Association, and American Medical Association.

Dr. Preston is past President of the Orange County Neurological Society and has held offices and positions at a number of local and regional hospitals in Orange County: Chairman of the Department of Neurology at Hoag Hospital, Newport Beach, California; Associate Clinical Professor of Neurology at UCI School of Medicine, Irvine, California; Vice Chief of Staff at Saddleback Memorial Medical Center, Laguna Hills, California.

Dr. Preston is active in clinical research, serving as principal investigator for studies dealing with various neurological illnesses and conditions: memory loss, stroke and post-herpetic neuralgia. He is a recent graduate of the Palatucci Advocacy Leadership Forum, sponsored by the American Academy of Neurology, and is presently pursuing a volunteer advocacy project dealing with neuroimaging for neurologists.

Dr. Preston enjoys hiking, golf, and tennis and is an amateur paleontologist. He has four children (three grown) and lives with his wife and youngest son in Orange County. He is currently in his 30th year of private neurological practice in Laguna Hills with the Saddleback Valley Neuroscience Medical Group.




Caroline Garcia Choan, M.D.


Caroline G. Choan, M.D. was born in Boston, but raised in Los Angeles.

While working toward her B.S. degree in Biology at UCLA, she worked as the pathology department's research and autopsy assistant at Children's Hospital of Los Angeles for four years.

Dr. Choan received her M.D. from New York Medical College, then returned to L.A. to complete her internship in internal medicine at Cedars-Sinai Hospital. Her neurology residency was completed at LA CountyHarbor-UCLA Hospital in Torrance.

Dr. Choan remained at Harbor-UCLA for her fellowship in neurophysiology, which included pediatric and adult electroencephalography, electromyography, and brainstem auditory, visual, and somatosensory evoked potential interpretation.

Dr. Choan is a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and the National Board of Medical Examiners.

Dr. Choan is a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and the National Board of Medical Examiners. She was re-certified by the former in August 2005.

Dr. Choan joined this private practice group in 1994, and she has special interests in headache, pain, and neuromuscular disease.

Dr. Choan is a member of the American Academy of Neurology and the American Headache Society.

Aside from good parenting, Dr. Choan enjoys her hobbies of gourmet cooking, home improvement, and traveling. She and her family reside in South Orange County.




Elizabeth N. Traynor, M.D.


Elizabeth Nock Traynor, M.D. was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She received her B.S. degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison and her Doctor of Medicine degree from Boston University School of Medicine. Her medical internship and residency were completed with the United States Air Force where she served 8 years and earned the rank of Major.

Dr. Traynor is a member of the American Academy of Neurology and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Neurology.

Dr. Traynor has been practicing in Orange County since 1998. Prior to that time she practiced in Fontana, Riverside, and at Oscoda Michigan, USAF Hospital. Dr. Traynor was awarded ³Internal Medicine Consultant of the Year² in 1993 at Kaiser Permanente, Fontana, California.

Dr. Traynor enjoys watercolor painting, music, reading and is an avid skier. Dr. Traynor and her husband (a Middle School principal in Southern California) live in Orange County with their two young sons (born in 1994 and 1996). The family also includes a white German Shepherd.

Dr. Traynor enjoys watercolor painting, on-line gaming, science fiction novels, Star Trek, home improvement, tiling, Cub Scouts and is a skier. Dr. Traynor and her husband (a Ph.D. in Education and a School District Administrator) live in Orange County with their two sons (born in 1994 and 1996). The family includes a German Shepherd rescue dog.




Dean A Le, M.D., Ph.D.

Neurology

Dean A. Le, M.D., Ph.D. graduated with a BS in Chemistry from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He obtained both is M.D. and Ph.D. from Stanford University.

Dr. Le's Internship and Residency were completed at Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Le was a Stroke Fellow, then became an Instructor in Neurology at Harvard Medical School. He was also on staff at Massachusetts General Hospital as a Stroke Specialist.

Dr. Le is a Board Certified Neurologist with clinical interests in general neurology, headaches, stroke and pain. Prior to his relocation to Southern California, Dr. Le was in solo practice in the Boston, Massachusetts area.

Dr. Le is married, and he and his wife Vana have two young children. He enjoys travelling and seeing Broadway shows.




Michael W. Shen, M.D.


Michael W. Shen, M.D. is a native Californian. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of California at San Diego where he graduated magna cum laude. Dr. Shen then went east to Boston where he obtained his M.D. at Tufts University School of Medicine, and where he received honors in neurology.

Dr. Shen returned to Southern California for an internship at Kaiser Permanente. He completed his residency in neurology at Harbor-UCLA where he was Chief Resident during his final year. Dr. Shen remained at Harbor-UCLA for a fellowship in neurophysiology, which included training in performing and interpreting nerve conduction studies and electromyography (NCS and EMG), electroencephalograms, (EEG) and brainstem auditory, visual and somatosensory evoked potentials (BAER, VER, SSEP).

Dr. Shen is currently Board Eligible in neurology and neurophysiology and enjoys practicing general neurology, performing and interpreting NCS/EMGs and interpreting EEGs.

Dr. Shen is a member of the American Academy of Neurology and the Orange County Neurological Society.

Dr. Shen's interests include technology, beach volleyball, sports and movies.
